The little Albanian girl Syarta finds protection in a church at a very dangerous turning point in her life. Who is she? What will her life look like in twenty years? How does she feel today in all the facets of her life?

Lena Gorelik, book author, Andreas Tobias, photo – and light artist, and Sabine Böhlau, theologian, tried, over many months, to get close to Syarta and other people that found shelter in the church asylum.

Syartas Reise won the ‘Argula von Grumbach Prize’ in 2023. The Argula von Grumbach Foundation promotes equality between men and women in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria.
